About
Rini Ong
Principal UIUX Designer · Tatsu Works Pte. Ltd. · 14+ years
I've built my career on curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to grow. From my early days at Koei Tecmo to my current role at Tatsu Works, I've always been the person who moves fast, picks things up quickly, and pushes to do more than what the role asks for.
I came up without a formal degree or master's. What got me here was the guidance of people who saw potential and gave me room to grow into it. That shaped how I think about teams and the work: the right environment matters just as much as the work itself.
I live by the belief that you should “go where you are appreciated and valued.” It's a simple idea, but it has guided every career decision I've made.
Today my work spans UX strategy, AI-first product thinking, and design systems. I'm most useful when the problem is ambiguous and the team needs someone who can think in systems while still caring deeply about the details.

Beyond Design
Outside of work, I have two adopted bunnies from Rabbit Headquarters Singapore and a soft spot for most animals. When I travel, I try to fit in a horse ride somewhere. It's become a bit of a tradition, and a good way to slow down.
My love for travel started with an MIT internship in 2009, and grew from there through work attachments in Japan during my Koei Tecmo years. I had been self-studying Japanese since childhood, and passing the JLPT N2 while living there made Japan feel like a second home. It still does.
I enjoy conversations with people who are genuine and curious. The kind that start with design and end up somewhere in a National Geographic documentary. My four-year-old is already a fan of the kids' version, so I consider that a good sign.
When my daughter gives me a window, I draw and paint. It was my first creative love, long before I knew what UX was, and it still feeds the same part of me.
